RM 1.50 Nasi Lemak @ Sri Weld Food Court, Penang

It was RM 1.20 when I came across Vkeong's post. Now, its RM 1.50. Guess the inflation hits Penang as well as in KL.

I didn't go there on purpose... seriously. It was by chance. It was too early in the morning to look for foods. It was around 10 am and it happened a few weeks ago. Lorong Selamat's famous stalls were still unopened at that time so we went around and found this food court.

We were told that the beef noodle is famous there. Yet, I found something interesting there as well.

Don't tell me after looking this nasi lemak preparation (picture above), you are not tempted to try one. The malay owners paid no attention to me, even though I kept taking pictures of their stall.

udang1

They sell 3 types of nasi lemak, the nasi lemak sambal udang (prawn), nasi lemak ikan bilis (enchovies) and egg, nasi lemak ikan (fish). All at RM 1.50 each! That was bloody cheap.

I bought the prawn nasi lemak and slowly unwrapped the banana leaf. The size of the prawn caught the attention of my friends and they were surprised it's only RM 1.50. The rice was very fragrant and not to mention the spicy prawn sambal. It was very good indeed. It was a no regrets affair having this, lovely!
Recommendable!

Steamboat Buffet @ Tasty Pot BBQ Steamboat Buffet Restaurant, Sunway Mentari

*Pork-Free Food*

Thank you Wenny of Tasty Pot and Tim from 3-meals.com for inviting me for the Tasty Pot BBQ Steamboat Restaurant food review session.

I've personally came here with Rachel for a birthday celebration dated a few weeks back.

The place itself was gigantic. Its the first time in my life to see a steamboat restaurant with 4 dedicated levels / floors for steamboat buffet. I kid you not. 4 floors of steamboat!!

t1

The massive building of steamboat!! Whoaaa....

If you wondering where's the place is, its located at Sunway Mentari and I attached a map below. Lots of parking spaces.

Well, let me show some of the buffet foods available...

buffet2

Check out the variety of foods! I would call this personally, the "balls" counter. From fish to chicken balls, many variety of balls except pork balls. Tasty Pot is a Pork Free restaurant.

buffet3

Can you see seafood?

buffet4

All fresh fresh...

vege

Green green vege vege...

seafood

Very fresh seafood.... big prawns, "sotong", crabs and many more...

buffet5

Rachel took this, definitely not me...

crabs

Check out the size of that crab!

steamboat2

Tasty Pot offered a unique combination of soups. Soya Bean soup, Curry Soya Bean soup, HK Satin Porridge / Congee soup, Chong Qing (Ma Lat) Spicy soup, Thai Tom Yam soup and Chinese Herbal soup. Top left was the Soya Bean soup and top right was the Chinese Herbal soup.

steamboat

Left was the Thai Tom Yam soup while the right was the Chong Qing (Ma Lat) Spicy soup. Chong Qing (Ma Lat) Spicy soup is for the hardcore spicy soup lovers.

Every soup has their own distinct flavour, I always prefer the Chinese Herbal soup. Rachel loved the spicy soup. The Soya Bean soup tasted slightly "too new" for my taste bud but some might loved it as well.

For your information, they have grill section that offered grill seafood and grill lamb as well.

It was a wonderful eating experience and it was great to meet new friends like Renee and Wai Ching.

Price per pax is RM 23.80. To me the pricing is not too bad.

Indian Food (Mamak) @ Nagas, Brickfields

*Halal Food*

Surprisingly after so long, this is my first post on Mamak (Tamil Muslim) foods. Don't get me wrong, I loved mamak foods such as roti canai and tosai paper as well.

nagas

Brickfields has heaps of mamak shops and indian restaurants. Normally, I went to Nagas for my mamak craves. Nagas is located opposite La Salle school, around the Brickfields Police Station. The good thing about them is they have their open parking spaces.

teh tarik

Teh tarik...

sardine

Roti sardine. Lots of chili "padi" mixed with sardine and onions. Personally, I would prefer without it. It would be a little bit nicer if the skin was crispier. It was decent.

tosai

Paper tosai.... Paper tosai is named such way as tosai is cooked to paper thin. Paper tosai is usually very crispy. Loved this. I always loved to take this with the coconut sauce.

Food here are generally good but slightly pricey. Place is clean but its a self service restaurant. It operates 24 hours a day.

Amazing Vegetarian Food @ Yishensu, One Utama

*Pork Free*

A few weeks ago, thanks to Ken Chan, me and a few bloggers had a lovely food review invitation for Yishensu, One Utama.

Locating the restaurant could never been easier. Located at the old wing of One Utama, its located beside Canton-I and opposite of TGIF.

yi1

The interior was very cozy.

yi2

I loved the warm lights, a very nice setting for dining...

platter

We were welcomed with a 4 dishes platter as starter. The platter had "Cola" Flavoured Spare Ribs" (middle), Golden Prawn with Mayo (left), Cuttlefish with Satay Sauce (right) and Shark Fin's Omelette (behind). Please bear in mind, all of the above were not meat, they were made using fiber and sources of vegetables.

The "Cola" flavoured spare ribs surprised me. The taste and the texture similar to a real meat. It was tender and very well flavoured with "cola". This was very good.

Golden prawn with mayo had the same effects as well. It tasted as if there's a prawn inside when I took my first bite. Not to mention, the skin was crispy. Addictive!

Cuttlefish with satay sauce. The cuttlefish was not as stiff as the "real" thing, but it was really good.

Shark Fin omelette was very good as well. It felt like having the real thing, without killing the sharks for the fins.

char

Char Kuey Teow was next. Though without the usual meats, the char kuey teow here was never lacked of the aroma and flavour.

mix vege

Mixed vegetables (RM 18) was a mixture of lotus root, cashew nuts and macadamia nuts. This dish was very light in flavour (not lacked) and its very tasty. The vegetables were very fresh and the addition of cashew and macadamia adds additional crunchiness to the dish. Very healthy dish.

emperor

Emperor Beancurd was next at RM 16. The fish meat on top of the beancurd was yet again marvelously tender. The beancurd was good and the paste were flavoury.

dried curry fish

The feast continued with Dried Curry Fish (RM 22). The dried curry fish came with tau fu-pok, brinjal and lady's finger. The curry was good, not really that spicy and hot, just nice to me.

claypot

Claypot Chicken Rice was next. Personally, I would prefer the rice with more sauce. This dish rather common than the rest.

chic chop

Chicken Chop (RM 20) was the only Western Food of the night. Not only the presentation was close to a real chicken chop, it tasted similar as well. The chicken goes very well with the sauce. Chicken chop chop was good good.

teriyaki

I tried lots of vegetarian roast duck / goose before. For teriyaki duck (RM 16) ala vegetarian style was my first time. The duck "meat" was tasty with the teriyaki sauce.

pineapple fried

Well, the pineapple fried rice was next. I loved how they blended the pineapple fried rice with cashew nuts and vegetarian anchovies. This was decent.

nasi lemak

Lastly, we had the Yishensu Nasi Lemak (with curry mutton) at RM 9. The rice was cooked with milk rather than coconut. The sambal also surreal. Some said, its better than the real thing. Of course it came also with egg, peanuts, and vegetarian anchovies. The curry mutton was amazing. Few agreed the curry mutton could be the star of the night.

pumpkin

When we thought the feast was over, we were so wrong. We were then served this magnificent Pumpkin Sweet Corn Soup (RM 4.80). The soup was a mixture of pumpkin and sweet corn to a creamy orange colour soup. Recommendable!

sea coconut

Finally, we ended the vegetarian feast with a sea coconut (RM 4.80).

I would personally like to thanks Catherine and Jason of Yishensu for the amazing feast. Yishensu has a few outlets with the original outlet opened in 1987 at Kampar, Perak. With such vast experience in vegetarian food industry, we were told that ingredients have changed from time to time. All the dishes cooked in Yishensu were MSG free.

In general, the foods there were very good. Pricing were slightly high due to the high cost of vegetarian ingredents. The place was very comfortable and cozy. Service was good.

5 Layers of Beef Burger @ Wendy's Pepper Stacker Media Launch, Jaya One

Thank you Wendy's for the media invite. I almost ran late for it as I was caught with a meeting earlier on.

Well then, what's this Pepper Stacker is all about?

Pepper Stacker - Only RM4.99!

Basically you customize the
burger up to 5 stacks from the original 2 stacks.

Pepper Stacker - Stack it up!

Well, since I'm "kiasu" enough, I stacked it to 5 stacks!

After the media briefing, we were given an exclusive tour to the kitchen of Wendy's. Due to some of their secret recipes, we were not allowed to take any photographs of it.

We were shown the process of cooking the Pepper Stacker burger. Each single beef patty was cooked by a "chef" and then dipped into the thick pepper sauce. They were using the square flat pan to cook it, similar to those at Ramli burger stalls. I wonder whether did they hire the "chef" off those stalls.

After the short brief tour, I could wait anymore for my Pepper Stackers with 5 beef patties! I named it as Pepper Stacker 5 stacks!

wendys set

My custom made burger!

bur

Checked out the size of this! Generously with lots of hot pepper sauce!

makan

Its kinda sloppy as there's 5 stacks of beef patties. You have been warned!

bur-done

I know its a bit gross but you can easily the 5 layers of beef patties.

Someone asked me whether was it juicy or not? The answer was yes. The beef was tender and as each single beef patty was dipped into the pepper sauce, it was very juicy and hot. Ya, almost for the sauteed onions as well. Anyways, I loved it!

This is my first time I had a 5 layers of beef burger. I'm proud of it!

Famous Rojak @ SS 15 Rojak Stall, Subang

*Pork Free*

For some unknown reasons, I couldn't find the remaining pictures of this place. Personally, I've been to this place a few times. Formerly, the stall was located at the main road opposite the Shell petrol station if not mistaken. Now its located also at the main road in front of SS 15 KFC.

The stall often has long queue and normally patrons ate at roadsides.

rojak1

Preparing the food...

rojak2

As good as it gets...

The rojak here was good, sadly I couldn't find the pictures I took to post here. The price was around RM 3 and above (depends what you want to add). Its for take away or you could sit at the roadside, Malaysian roadside eating style. Recommendable but often there's a long queue.

Address:
In front of KFC SS 15, beside Subang Square, at the main road facing the housing area.
