The Wedding Extravaganza 2009 @ Rennaissance Hotel, KL

A few Sundays ago, we were invited for a Bridal Fair in Rennaissance Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. We were joined by our usual "suspects" aka our lovely BFF, Missmynx and AgentK.



We went to Carven Ong's collections and found Big Boys Oven's cake by chance.



Then, we bumped to Carven Ong.

Rachel first impression to Carven was..."Wah, u so handsome!!!"
Carven laughed it off and said.. "I'm old already, no more handsome".

Know you understand how Rachel flirts in front of me, sigh...

We had a good conversation with Carven, as Rachel kept on asking for discounts.



Thanks to Star Red Fm, we got our free tickets for the catwalk. Yeah, catwalk, bridal version...

Dream Wedding Chapel @ Blue Point Bay Villas & Spa, BALI

Let me put something nice for a Friday. Since we are going to have a long weekend ala Merdeka celebrations, we will be away for a short holiday as well. We will be going to Kuching for a short trip.

This whole dream wedding chapel wasn't really my idea. My sis, Adeline told me about this amazing dream wedding chapel in Bali a few months ago. Then, she went to Bali and took a couple of pictures of it. After looking at the pictures, I knew its going to be posted here.

The place is called Blue Point Bay Villas & Spas in Bali. It's quite popular for its wedding packages, address and contact as below.

Live Blogging: From Tune Hotel, Penang

Well, its not really my intention to do live blogging from Tune Hotel, Penang. Just that I couldn't sleep even a whole day long of work so why not?

I checked in quarter to 12 midnight. Pre-booked the rooms yesterday and got ourselves (me and my crews) a very small but very clean and modern looking rooms. Its a one night stay, I'm leaving later.

I posted a few messages on my msn, twitter and plurk asking for supper from Penangites, only a few replied. Knowing my usual over friendly craziness attitude, I called it a day rather than seeking for a friend for supper.

Without me around, my wife went out with her friends till late. I had no say in her social life, she had her own privacy exclusively for her. Of course, I do know the friends she went out with.

I took a few pictures in this room that I'm having now, will upload it probably later.

Few things that I discover about Tune Hotel I want to share here:
1. No TV
2. Air Cond - Chargeable
3. Towels and Soaps - Chargeable
4. No Mineral Water.
5. No Breakie
6. No Phone /No Room Service
7. WIFI - Chargeable
8. Slow WIFI
9. Walls are thin
10. Very Reasonable Price - Below RM 80 per night
11. Checked out at 10 am
12. Rooms are tidy and clean
13. Very modern and comfortable rooms (bed is okay)
14. Go advertisements in the room
15. Glass bathroom doors

My room overlooks the busy night city view of Penang. Something that I would brag about, a view with such cheap price.

At this moment, smartly I left my bag in the car. I wouldn't bother as I'm heading to sleep right now. Lots of amazing places coming soon, I promise. Thanks for reading and I really appreciate comments and clicking my ads. I will be heading to Kuantan soon as well as Malacca (again) and Johor Bahru. I have a pending destinations to Hadyai and Jakarta this month. Both are for leisure.

Ala Carte Japanese Buffet @ Irodori Japanese Restaurant, Singapore

Sometimes good food is just around the corner. I kid you not.

My stay in Riverview Hotel Singapore was a pleasant experience. Yet, within the hotel, there's a very good Japanese restaurant. Its called Irodori Japanese Restaurant. Since my clients recommended me the place, we decided to have my dinner there.

There's a lot of Japanese buffet restaurant but ala carte japanese buffet was the first time for me. Ala carte japanese buffet means they only cook when you order. The food will taste better definitely. When we reached the restaurant, we were greeted by the friendly waitresses there. We waited no more and started to order our dinner.



Fresh sashimi was pretty good. The fish were very fresh indeed. We ordered quite a few plates for the night.



Ebi Tempura or Tempura Prawn. Lovely.



The complimentary Grilled Prawns. This was pretty good. Too bad its complimentary, if not we would order more.



Most Japanese restaurants in Malaysia are halal. Having pork shogayaki was something a little bit different to me. This was decent.



Trust me, this was not my order.

The buffet only cost $33++ per person for dinner. It's really worth it. I'm talking about the quality of the foodi and the variety of foods we can ordered. There's more than 100 types of dishes to order. The service was good as well. What else to ask for?

Febri's Hotel & Spa Bali Review (March '09)

Inspired by a Balinese royal palace, the hotel offers 68 contemporary rooms and is ideally situated in the shopping and entertainment area of Tuban. The Febris Hotel and Spa is centrally located on the main Kartika Plaza Street on South Kuta Beach and is close to such major shopping and entertainment attractions as the Discovery Mall, Kuta Art Market, Kuta Centre Shopping & Entertainment complex, and Kuta Square. Other surrounding family facilities that are available include Waterbom Park, Reverse-Bungee Jumping, Bowling, and a variety of ethnic restaurants. The onsite, open-air, restaurant is on the street front, and serves Indonesian, Italian, and Chinese cuisine. - Agoda.com

Yeah, that was the review I read before I booked and stayed at Febri's. The place itself was in the heart of the area of Tuban (Kuta). Walking distance to shops and restaurants. 5 min walk to Kuta Beach which is just at the opposite of the road.

When the taxi driver dropped us at the lobby, we were relieved and happy. Relieved to see the hotel was exactly the same as the pictures on the internet and happy because it's just walking distance to the shopping malls, shops and restaurants.

We were greeted by the nice lady at the front lobby. From there, we were guided to our rooms, walking pass the massive lovely swimming pool they have.



Each room has a nice little entrance. We just can't wait to see the room.



The room was big. There was a nice King size bed and a nice little sofa at window side. The bathroom was lovely as well. No cracks or stains or what so ever. The moment we went to the room, we were happily playing with TV remote which had cable TV with dozens of channels. The room was very clean.



The swimming pool was nice. They have quite a number of benches for sunbathing as well. We did really enjoy the pool very much.

Overall, Febri's is a good hotel to stay in. Price was reasonable as well, we managed to book it at USD 46 nett per night inclusive of breakfast. Service was very good and the room was very clean. Their spa was pretty good as well as we had hot stone massages there.

The only thing bad about this place is it's 5 min walk to the beach. Otherwise it would be a lovely hotel resort.

Pangkor Island Beach Resort Review (Aug '07)

Found this in one of my old hard drives. It was my maiden trip to Pangkor Island.

The journey from Kuala Lumpur to Lumut was around 3 1/2 hours. We parked at the multi level car parks beside the jetty.

One thing good about Pangkor Island Beach Resort was they have their own ferry. The receptionist checked our booking and we were on our way to "paradise".

In general, we loved the privacy of this resort. Services were good and rooms were okay. Foods were decent but slightly pricey. We loved the private beach and also the activities available.

Few things we dislike. The resort is isolated so going to other places could be troublesome. There's lots of monkeys, they were not good "neighbours".

Ellie's Hotel @ Nusa Dua, Bali

As recommended by Lonely Planet....

This place was hard to find for the first time. Its actually just off the main road, but going there for the first time could be tricky. Do print out maps to help the cabbies (taxi drivers). We had hard time looking the hotel when its actually around the corner.

Located at the Nusa Dua area, this place was a bit isolated from the beaches. However, if you are looking for an authentic Balinese style of staying, this hotel will be your best choice. Going to the beach might need a cab.

Our lovely seaview room. Spacious and comfortable with individual air conditioner. The furnitures looked brand new.

But there was no cable TV but they had DVD player for movies. They had a huge stack of DVDs at the lobby counter. They had enough supply for a year!

Overall, I loved the quietness of the hotel and the uniquness of the architecture of the place.
The hotel only had 8 rooms. Not much facilities except the lovely swimming pool.

Breakfast was provided and it was cooked on individual basis. Breakfast there was fantastic.

If you are looking for a 4-5 stars facilities hotel with beach, this might not be an ideal place for you.

However, if you are looking for quietness, something "different" than the usual hotels, this could be a more suitable hotel for you.

Talk to David, the manager. He was an amazing person. Same goes to the locals there who were very helpful and super friendly.

The rates here goes from US 45 and above depending on season. Do call them for better rates.

Riverview Hotel, Singapore Review

Last month I went to Singapore for a working trip. It was a real short notice and a real short trip. I was there for only 2 days 1 night.

I was staying at Riverview Hotel. It was my first time at this hotel.



I find it hard to believe when I realized this hotel is more than 20 years old. One of the reasons was how well the place was maintained.



Not to mention the lovely rooms. It looked like brand new. No stains and every single bit of it was good.

In fact, I was given a river view room. I didn't have the time for a swim at their lovely swimming pool.

Rates goes around SGD 13x.xx ++ excluding breakfast (price varies from time to time). A 10-15 min walk from here will reached Tiong Bahru Market Food Court.

Recommendable stay.

Horrible Wedding Dinner @ Crowne Plaza Hotel (Oct 08)

It took me a while whether to blog about this. Well, I decided that this is the right time.

I attended a friend's wedding in October in Crowne Plaza Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. It was a lunch wedding. It was a lovely wedding until the food came out.

I'm not a person that loves to create trouble. But sometimes, trouble comes and find me. What happened was the food was served and I asked about the wine from one of the waiter.

The waiter replied... "We will serve the wine after the prawn. You know "udang", "udang" u know?" The waiter answered rudely.

Everyone on the table was very offended. How could a hotel like Crowne Plaza Hotel had services like this?

Another thing was they hired African part timers. Firstly, I have nothing against Africans but they couldn't even cut a fish properly. Its a sign of improper training.

Then, other tables were served with wine except us. We were upset and complained it to the manager (since we asked for it first). The best part was, after we complained nobody served us! I had to even go to pour my own tea!! And they were seen cleaning wine glasses off the boxes using dry clothes only without cleaning it with water. God knows were there cockroaches in the boxes.

This were the quality of 5 Star Hotel!

From that time onwards, I told myself, this hotel is really hopeless! I would NEVER host my wedding banquet in Crowne Plaza Hotel and do advise anyone on my experiences.

I do not want my guests to be offended with amateur services like Crowne Plaza Hotel.

One Night @ The Westin Hotel KL (Jan 09)

I have a great start for 2009. For the first weekend of 2009, I went to The Westin Hotel for one night stay. I got it complimentary for something I won last year. I checked in late around 3pm. Went there, got my room, lied down on the lovely king size bed and started to take my camera to snap pictures. However, the bed was so nice that I dozed off for a few hours.

Since Pavilion is just across the room, I washed up and ready to go. The bathroom was magnificent as well. I loved the bathtub, at last a bathtub for my size....

After the shopping, the dining and the movies at Pavilion, I reached back to the hotel. There are 20 channels on the TV set (mainly Astro). Even though its located at the busy road of Bukit Bintang, the noise level seemed to be very low. Well, as my units are facing the Times Square, I did not have the luxurious view of KLCC but I do have a pool view.

The bed was really good, I should have get one of those at my place. I woke up late and ready to get myself to the pool before checking out.

The swimming pool is rather small but the design is unique.

I checked out and had a great time there.

A truly 5 stars hotel. Will come back again....
