Japanese Dinner @ Nippon Yataimura, One Utama

Like many married couples or dating couples, finding a place for dinner has never been easier. When it comes to food, my wife would say "...anything, you decide". But when I suggested for a few places she would say "...how come you don't know what I love to eat?" So then, up to today probably no scientist would understand why the ladies like to ask what to eat when they already know what they wanted to eat.

Anyways, lately we realized something we had in common. Japanese foods. As we were looking for one, we bumped to a Japanese restaurant that we haven't been there for ages, Nippon Yataimura.

nip1

I loved the interior. I showed this exact picture to a Japanese friend and she wouldn't believe this is in Malaysia. It has a very authentic Japanese feelings.

salmon skin

The fried salmon skin came first (RM 5.00). Salmon skin was crispy and soaked with the lemon juice blended very well with Japanese mayo. Fattening but yummy!

spider

Spider roll was next (RM 18). Presentation of the food was slightly off but the sushi was okay. Fried soft shell crab and cucumber was rolled with Japanese rice and topped with fish roe and Japanese mayo. This was decent.

chic nanban

Chicken Nanban at RM 12. Chicken coated with egg was deep fried and creamed with mixture of Japanese Mayo. This was decent.

hotate scallop

Hotate aburi yaki was priced at RM 12. Raw scallop was lightly grilled. The scallop was very fresh and tender. The taste was very natural, very much dependent on the freshness of the scallop.

salmon head

The waitress there were recommending the spicy salmon head to us. They told us it was very good. They even discounted it to RM 12 for us to try. Well, the salmon head was decent. Coated with the spicy sauce, the salmon head never lacked of flavour.

potato

We forgotten we ordered the baked potatoes (RM 5). Even though its nicely baked and topped with butter, we didn't manage to finish this. We were too full.

In general, the food was decent. Service was good and the pricing was okay for shopping mall. I loved the interior.

Amazing Vegetarian Food @ Yishensu, One Utama

*Pork Free*

A few weeks ago, thanks to Ken Chan, me and a few bloggers had a lovely food review invitation for Yishensu, One Utama.

Locating the restaurant could never been easier. Located at the old wing of One Utama, its located beside Canton-I and opposite of TGIF.

yi1

The interior was very cozy.

yi2

I loved the warm lights, a very nice setting for dining...

platter

We were welcomed with a 4 dishes platter as starter. The platter had "Cola" Flavoured Spare Ribs" (middle), Golden Prawn with Mayo (left), Cuttlefish with Satay Sauce (right) and Shark Fin's Omelette (behind). Please bear in mind, all of the above were not meat, they were made using fiber and sources of vegetables.

The "Cola" flavoured spare ribs surprised me. The taste and the texture similar to a real meat. It was tender and very well flavoured with "cola". This was very good.

Golden prawn with mayo had the same effects as well. It tasted as if there's a prawn inside when I took my first bite. Not to mention, the skin was crispy. Addictive!

Cuttlefish with satay sauce. The cuttlefish was not as stiff as the "real" thing, but it was really good.

Shark Fin omelette was very good as well. It felt like having the real thing, without killing the sharks for the fins.

char

Char Kuey Teow was next. Though without the usual meats, the char kuey teow here was never lacked of the aroma and flavour.

mix vege

Mixed vegetables (RM 18) was a mixture of lotus root, cashew nuts and macadamia nuts. This dish was very light in flavour (not lacked) and its very tasty. The vegetables were very fresh and the addition of cashew and macadamia adds additional crunchiness to the dish. Very healthy dish.

emperor

Emperor Beancurd was next at RM 16. The fish meat on top of the beancurd was yet again marvelously tender. The beancurd was good and the paste were flavoury.

dried curry fish

The feast continued with Dried Curry Fish (RM 22). The dried curry fish came with tau fu-pok, brinjal and lady's finger. The curry was good, not really that spicy and hot, just nice to me.

claypot

Claypot Chicken Rice was next. Personally, I would prefer the rice with more sauce. This dish rather common than the rest.

chic chop

Chicken Chop (RM 20) was the only Western Food of the night. Not only the presentation was close to a real chicken chop, it tasted similar as well. The chicken goes very well with the sauce. Chicken chop chop was good good.

teriyaki

I tried lots of vegetarian roast duck / goose before. For teriyaki duck (RM 16) ala vegetarian style was my first time. The duck "meat" was tasty with the teriyaki sauce.

pineapple fried

Well, the pineapple fried rice was next. I loved how they blended the pineapple fried rice with cashew nuts and vegetarian anchovies. This was decent.

nasi lemak

Lastly, we had the Yishensu Nasi Lemak (with curry mutton) at RM 9. The rice was cooked with milk rather than coconut. The sambal also surreal. Some said, its better than the real thing. Of course it came also with egg, peanuts, and vegetarian anchovies. The curry mutton was amazing. Few agreed the curry mutton could be the star of the night.

pumpkin

When we thought the feast was over, we were so wrong. We were then served this magnificent Pumpkin Sweet Corn Soup (RM 4.80). The soup was a mixture of pumpkin and sweet corn to a creamy orange colour soup. Recommendable!

sea coconut

Finally, we ended the vegetarian feast with a sea coconut (RM 4.80).

I would personally like to thanks Catherine and Jason of Yishensu for the amazing feast. Yishensu has a few outlets with the original outlet opened in 1987 at Kampar, Perak. With such vast experience in vegetarian food industry, we were told that ingredients have changed from time to time. All the dishes cooked in Yishensu were MSG free.

In general, the foods there were very good. Pricing were slightly high due to the high cost of vegetarian ingredents. The place was very comfortable and cozy. Service was good.

Garden Lifestyle Store and Cafe @ One Utama New Wing

It was like a nice western garden in a shopping center.

It was a Sunday afternoon, me and Rachel decided to have a lunch there.

Located at Lower Ground Floor of One Utama New Wing, there's a small little counter in front of the cafe. We were then led into a flowery Western look alike garden cafe.

The decoration here was good. I loved the interior and the lovely flowers around.

garden1 copy

A white grand piano and lovely flowers around the cafe. The wooden chairs and the wooden tables are handsomely painted in white. Giving the cafe a very clean and sleek look.

We waited no more as we looked through the lunch sets. There were 6 different types of lunch sets. Sets came with soup of the day and drinks.

garden3

Rachel ordered the butter ginger dory dish. Battered and deep fried dory fish was nicely "sinked" with generous amount of butter ginger sauce. Looking at it, I waited no more and cut a slice from it. The was slightly softer and it goes very well with the sauce. Even though there's only slight hints of ginger. I thought it was lovely. Rachel rated it as average only.

garden2

Garden Black Pepper Chicken Chop. I am always a big fan of chicken chop. However, due to my weight issues, I cut down on chicken chops and steaks. The dish came with generous amount of black pepper gravy as well. The chicken was not too bad. Yet, I find the black pepper chicken lacked of black peppers. Slightly more would spice the taste up a bit.

Generally, I loved how they deco the cafe. The white theme with wooden furnitures and lovely flowers made this place an enjoyable place to dine. Food was okay and set lunch goes from RM 12.90++ to RM 17.90. Yet again that was in April, not sure the set menus are still around now though. Service was good and the place is well air conditioned.

Lam Mee @ Lammeeya, One Utama

A new outlet at LG, One Utama new wing opposite Kluang Station cafe.

The restaurant itself looked clean. I was with my trainees so we gave it a try.

lm2

Andy ordered a Chicken Soup Kuey Teow. Whoaa... bubbles!! The soup for this was a bit flat, tasteless.

lm1

The "hot item" Lam Mee was next. The Lam Mee paste was thick but the aroma was not that strong. It blended well with a bit of vinegar. Well, it didn't serve with egg but with little prawn dim sum.

lm3

Yang ordered a Dry Curry Chicken Noodle. Well, the curry was thick and a bit spicy. Very deep in curry powder taste.

lm4

We also ordered Foo Cheok and Fried Dumplings. Foo Cheok was crispy. The filling was somehow least meat and not salty enough. Fried dumplings were the same as well. Not much fillings, but crispy.

A menu set is around RM 15. Food was average and service was good.

A few of my friends loved this place very much. Good thing about this place is, its in One Utama. Even though I stayed in Cheras, but I'm everywhere in Klang Valley. I went there with Rachel and Laney one day.

We ordered then the "abalone shaped" lotus paste pastry. Egg yolk bun, that was good.
Egg tarts, loved them and lastly "char siew" buns... loved them also...
Service was pretty good. I loved their deco. Food was good to fantastic. Per pax around RM 30. Price is a bit high but I felt its worth it. It would be a YES for me to go back again. Lovely food. Would love to try out their pork and BBQ dishes, seen a lot of ppl ordered those.

So in a very fine evening, a group of us went there for a quickie.

I must admit the meals were pretty good. Per pax you pay around RM 1x (for single meal). Service is always good there. Most of the foods there are pretty decent. Its one of the shops in One Utama that you can pay a visit.
