Hokkien Noodle @ Restaurant Kim Lian Kee, Petaling Street

* NON-HALAL

This was totally unexpected.

I went to Petaling Street for the Portuguese Grill (read more about the review, HERE). Upon there, I sat and I was approached by a humble waiter. Looking at the other tables, I ordered 2 plates of noodles, Cantonese Fried Noodles and Hokkien Noodles. Since there were only me and Rachel, we wanted to leave a bit of space for our tummies for the Portuguese grill.

On their shirts, its written 1927. This place has been ongoing for 81 years? Godness!

Looks like I stumbled upon something special.

The Cantonese Fried Noodle was pretty good. It was rich in taste. Intense heat cooking with Chinese wok produced better food. This could be the reason of the aroma and the fragrant of the dish.

Oh my. The hokkien noodle! It was AMAZING! Noticed the hokkien noodle was cooked with "mee hoon". It actually will taste better if cooked that way. The noodle might looked harmless but the taste was amazing. It was not too dry or not too sloppy, it was just nice. It was rich and thick in taste.

One of the best in town, indefinitely!

So then I went back home and did a google search about this place and I found some shocking truth about this place. Its rumoured that this is the pioneer restaurant that sells hokkien noodle. Some older friends told me, this place was very popular back then.

The place served good foods alright. Hokkien noodle was fantastic. I sat opposite of the shop, in front of Hong Leong bank. Could be a bit hot and stuffy. Well, its worth the sweat. Pricing should be around RM 10 per plate depending the size your order. To me, it was very reasonable. There were quite a few waiters running around taking orders and such.

I would recommend the Hokkien Noodle!

My family have been patrons of this place for the longest time... they serve the best hokkien mee and until today, there are very few who can match this restaurant in taste... there is also another one nearby... along kota raya, in a lorong somewhere... the food there is wicked as well
