Japanese Food @ Zaro Izakaya

There was a few nice banners of Zaro Izakaya when me and Rachel were looking for dinner in Sunway Pyramid. Together we went there and waited for another friend, Joleen to join for the dinner.

The restaurant is facing the main road in front of Sunway Pyramid.



The restaurant itself was quite a beauty. A Japanese bar concept differs than the conventional Japanese restaurants. The restaurant also plays club music. The place was quite empty when we were there, probably due to the location of the restaurant.



Zha Ji Cho (RM 16)... Temaki deep fried and sliced to pieces....



Unagi Maki at RM 18. Decent, but presentation slightly off.



The sashimi set at RM 28. The thing about this place was they were not flexible. I wanted a salmon sashimi but they never had one in the menu so we were forced to order a sashimi set. One more thing here was the salmon was smoked! Salmon was not fresh!



Beef bacon at RM 6.00, ordinary.



Lamb rack kushiyaki at RM 5. Decent but yet again nothing special.

In general, food was average. Salmon sashimi turned to smoked salmon. It took them a while to serve the foods despite there was not much people in the restaurant. Pricing was slightly on the high side. The music was loud and it was quite hard to have a conversation there.

Sushi Zanmai @ Sunway Pyramid (Oct 08)

Yes, I am a sushi lover. Being a sushi lover, I look for good and cheap sushi. For that, I was recommended by fellow sushi lover also to Sushi Zanmai @ Sunway Pyramid.

Since we ordered so much sushi, let me share what we had. The most significance here will be the beef.
We ordered a RM 200 worth of sushi. To put it in words, it will be a very long time. To cut things short, let me highlight the few things I love. They serve anago(sea eel) here as well at a very affordable price. Anago is a rare treat, taste similar to Unagi. A must try! They have Nato (nut) sushi as well. Even though the taste of nato is still so shitty (I don't understand why Japanese love it so much!), its still something to try. They do have other unique sushi as well. Price for our feast per pax, RM 5x per pax. Service is good, sushi is lovely. Value for money.

Wong Kok Char Chan Teng @ Sunway Pyramid

There's a few Hong Kong style restaurant / cafe in KL. Wong Kok Char Chan Teng is one of them. We were at Sunway Pyramid, looking for a lunch and we found Wong Kok at the main entrance area.

I ordered a set with a lovely cream soup. Soup was pretty good. Pineapple Chicken with rice. Chicken portion is a bit small. Well, its a set, so you can't complain much right? Pan Fried Cheong Fun was pretty good. I always believe things from the menu is always better than sets sometimes.

My set came with "Hong Kong" style tea. Rachel ordered a yam drink. Drinks are lovely..

They served decent food (stick to menu). Hong Kong style menu. Good service. They have lovely drink menus. Per pax is usually under RM 20.

I must say decorations for Christmas in KL has improved year by year. I think its a good sign of improvement. Hope more to come in coming years... Marry Christmas!
