How to celebrate Valentine's Day in a cheaper way?
Celebrate it one day earlier!
That's what I did.
I looked up on the google for the better places in town and I booked a table at Bon Ton @ Jalan Conlay. Located besides Prince Hotel, this restaurant received lots of good feedbacks.
The place looked nice. A little stairs to the entrance.
The interior was lovely. Its cozy, a hint of old Malay house design.
However, they gave us a window seating. Sigh.
We ordered 2 platters. East coast and Melaka platter. Top hat here was actually Pai Tee. I was finding a hard time trying to guess what's top hat.
The Melaka platter came with Lemon grass chicken wrapped in Pandan Leaf, Prawn with Mango Lemak, Mutton curry with potato, Nasi Kemuli, Cabbage soup and Brinjal paceri.
It one of my first time to have such a variety of Malay foods in a platter. In a brief, the food to me was unique because living in KL, I didn't know that there's such variety of Malay foods. I felt ashamed. Except the prawns, the foods here were quite decent.
The East Coast Platter came with Ayam Percik, Sweet and Sour Prawn Curry, Ikan Tenggiri with Budu Sauce, Stir Fried Kalian with Salted Fish, Fish Crackers and Nasi Kerabu.
This set to me was more common. Except Ikan Tenggiri, most of the others I had tried before.
The set each cost around RM 58++ with local dessert. To be frank, its a bit pricy to me. Food was unique for the Melaka platter, East Coast platter was quite common. The food was decent, but nothing amazing about it. The setting and the ambient of the restaurant was good and the service was good as well. However, the waiters there might need to buck up their communication skills, communicating with them was "tricky".
